OSE Magazine Staff
Rules and Regulations
Our organization is very unique. We do not have elections, and your time-commitment will vary according to the position your choose and our publication cycles. The more time and effort you give to the magazine, the more you will get out of the experience.
Financial Staff
Keeping Us Active Through SOURCE
Fiscal Officer: Hina Siddiqui.18
- The fiscal officer maintains the finances of the magazine. To do this, he/she must attend one treasurer training session a year, through SOURCE. This keeps the magazine active with the university, and makes sure our fiscal officer knows the rules about SOURCE-allocated money.
- At the end of each school year, the fiscal officer files an audit stating what the magazine did with the SOURCE organization money.
- We would also like the fiscal officer attend the Engineering Council meetings, which happen every other week or so, as that will also bring funds to the magazine.
Writing Staff
Grammar and Sources
Writing Editors: Erin Pompili.5
- If you are writing an article, you must submit an art request, even if you do not know what you want the graphic to be.
- Follow AP writing standards. This can be found online here.
- You must credit all sources. Anything you researched must be attributed. The following are examples:
- "According to the American Red Cross, blood is red."
- "For more information Visit www.redcross.com" (at the end of an article)
- "According to Bob Smith's article in Science Weekly..." (attributed by actual journal article and writer, NOT the website it was from, b/c it could technically be on more than one website. You are interested only in the actual article and author).
- Please attempt to have a working title for your article.
Art Staff

- Art is assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- The Art and Graphics editor reserves the right to reassign graphic and photo assignments if the graphic/photograph produced by the artist does not fit the original request.

Advertising Checklist
Marketing Manager: Hina Siddiqui.18
- Change the invoice so it reflects that specific transaction, eg. SP07-01, for Spring issue 2007, the first ad for that issue.
- Print two copies of this invoice.
- Keep one copy here in the office/with the marketing manager, and send one to the advertiser.
- Give instructions to the advertiser that whomever set up this transaction should sign the invoice, make a copy for their records, and return it with their check in a business-sized envelope to the magazine address as specified.
- We prefer to have the ad e-mailed to us, because this ensures the print-friendly quality. An 8.5x11" ad, if they send a page-size image, should be 300dpi which means the pixel size should be 2550 x 3300 pixels.
